Expression proteomics is the study of dysregulated proteins as a function of stimulation or condition (disease, time, drug, etc.). The center provides a wide range of techniques to measure absolute or relative levels of proteins in customer samples. This can be conducted via various platforms such as a label free approach in which peptides are spiked with an internal standard to ensure no chromatographic drift during the run. Alternatively, samples can be labeled at the protein or peptide level, as in 2D-DIGE, a gel based technique that labels samples at the protein level, and 18O labeling, in which samples are tagged with a heavy oxygen atom at the peptide level.
