Protein PTM Characterization
Dr. Gokulrangan received his Ph.D. (with honors) in Bioanalytical Chemistry from the laboratory of Professor George S. Wilson at the University of Kansas. His research training and interests include molecular recognition-based assay development, biological mass spectrometry and quantitative proteomics in relation to disease discovery. Prior to his arrival in the Center for Proteomics and Bioinformatics, he was a postdoctoral research scholar performing analytical proteomics in relation to identification and characterization of oxidative post-translational modification (PTMs) in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department at the Higuchi Bioscience Center, University of Kansas. His current role and responsibility in the Center is related to the application of proteomic methodologies for projects related to protein expression profiling and characterization/mass-spectrometric quantitation of protein PTMs in biological samples of varying origin. Dr.Gokulrangan has 3 years of hands-on experience in relation to high resolution mass spectrometry. He currently operates and maintains the Dionex U3000-ThermoFinnigan Orbitrap XL nano HPLC-MS/MS platform such that internal and external collaborative projects may be executed. Dr.Gokulrangan's current research projects are in collaboration with Case faculty members from the Departments of Genetics and Dermatology. His immediate future interests include systems biology of skin diseases and cancer.
